Every third Saturday in the odd months from 6pm, we have 16mm film screenings following a talk by one of our members from 5pm. The films we are seeing are all from former Bunkyo AV library. We inspect them (four to six titles each time) and if the condition is good enough, project them and accumulate the records. The priority is put on those films from the 50s and 60s at the moment. We are aiming to see every single reel of 1,250 in total eventually. So far we've seen about 50 films and have already found a lot of gems. For these screenings, we serve coffee, additive-free bread from "Paritto Fuwatto Bakery", beer, snacks etc.. Audience numbers vary but usually there are about five staff members plus 20 people. Admission is free for members and 500 yen for non-members. The money is going to be used for the renovation of our space. And after screenings we have a meeting session over dinner at "Oden Takahashi" near Sendagi Station. Anyone is welcome regardless of their membership status - usually 10 or more people show up.

This is a historical four days special screenings of documentaries, animations, feature films and all sorts, held in the Geikoten (local cultural festival) week in October, after Home Movie Day, before World AV Heritage Day. We usually have an audience of 30-40 on each day.

In March every year we have Japanese traditional Mochi Pounding Party and Silent Film Show (w. benshi Raiko Sakamoto & pianist Mie Yanashita) which is purely for people in the Yanesen area. Our local hero benshi and renowned pianist come to our small screening room with very special silent films.

workshops

16mm film projection workshops are held twice a year: April and November, which is one of the most popular events. And 8mm film inspection workshop is held in August, usually on the same day as HMD reps meeting in Tokyo. HMD reps meeting in November is held outside Tokyo, in Misawa in 2008 and Nagoya in 2009.

institutional visits

Every year we have a visit to Sagamihara Annex of National Film Center in November. And some other film preservation related institutions every so often, such as Fuji Film, Imagica, Tokyo Ko-on, Celluloid Museum, Audiovisual Library... four-five new places a year. Some visits are limited to members.
